Having asked a friend in miami of a recommendation for a place to eat, he suggested one of the restaurants at the biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. This proved to be just a ten minute drive from our hotel near the airport and they were generously able to slot us in before the rush. We were quite surprised by this 1930's resort hotel, conference center and golf club.
The shot below was made with my Canon S100. Handheld in low light, while I took three exposures for an HDR, the under exposed image was too dark and the over exposed image showed too much camera shake, so this is just the neutral, middle image exposed as the camera thought mid grey should be.
You can get a hint of the architecture in this historic hotel from this image. The wooden structure on the left is actually a bird cage. There were a number of colorful small birds within both this enclosure and a similar one on the other side of the lobby. As mentioned before, I'm not an ornithologist so I'll just stick with ‘birds'.
