I share my images in two licensing models depending upon your intended use. I trust you to represent yourself honorably when seeking a license.

Creative Commons License

With Creative Commons you may:

  • Share. That means Copy, Distribute, and Transmit the image
  • Remix. that means Create Derivative works of the image

When using the Creative Commons License:

  • Attribution: Attribution to Richard Davis and Richard Davis must be made along with the image.
  • Non-Commercial: The image must not be used for commercial purposes under any circumstances. See below or the definition of commercial use and see the Accepted Uses below.

Sample Accepted Use of the Creative Commons License:

  • Blog Post describing a trip you took
  • Use as a back-projection in a School Play or school art project
  • Individual use as desktop wallpaper on a computer monitor
  • Online article discussing

License to Copyright

‘Commercial Use' can be broadly defined whether regarding online of offline use. The determination of commercial or non-commercial is based on the contextual use of the image. It has nothing to do with the tax filing status of the entity using the image nor whether or not a financial transaction takes place.

Commercial use or our images is only allowed if expressly granted by Richard Davis . All commercial uses will incur a licensing fee. Our fees are based on the following criteria:

  • Media type – print, web, television, etc.
  • Distribution Size – number of copies printed, viewing size, exposure (regional, national, international)
  • Length of use – 1 year, 2 years, etc.
  • Prominence of Display – 1/4 page, 1/2 page, full page, spread, front cover, back cover, home page (online), interior page (online), etc.

Sample Use Requiring A License to Copyright:

  • A marketing campaign for a commercial entity
  • A fund-raising campaign for a not-for-profit entity
  • Use of the image on a commercial website
  • A license for an individual print in a private home
