On a recent visit to London, my son wanted to try the new Elizabeth Line Crossrail line. We jumped on at Paddington and hopped off at Canary Wharf, wandered around, took a couple of photos, ate a pizza, then headed back west to Trafalgar Square and Westminster. This photo of the canal separating Churchill Place from the rest of Canary Wharf, joined only by an enclosed footbridge is my favorite from that location. I shall remember this day though as […]

The Color Factory is an interactive art exhibit. Originally in San Francisco (2017), the concept space was unable to extend its lease. After that, the Color Factory opened in New York City in 2018 and in 2019 opened this […]
As Texas reels once more from a reliance on faith over science, my image, Signs of Life, refers not to the re-opening of the Texas economy but to a demolition site in Alicante, Spain. As I wandered the streets, camera in hand, my mind just buzzed with questions. Taken in March 1999, my wife and I were on a break from Paris. So far, that remains my only trip to Spain. Like any modern city with a storied history, urban […]

On the edge of the core, the Hyatt Place Chicago/Downtown is three blocks north of the Willis Tower and eight blocks west of the Cloud Gate (The Bean). To ensure the kids kept quite after lights out we would put a strip of scotch tape across the door […]
I only spent a few days at Angkor Wat and that was back in the early 1990s. It’s one of those places and times that, looking back, I wish digital cameras had existed and I wish I had had more time to explore, and I wish there hadn’t been a war that left the area littered with land mines. I also wish consumer GPS had existed back then as well so I would have been able to accurately place this […]
These feel like weird times we’re living through, don’t they? Over the last few years what we took to be societal norms seem to have been upended: with Trump in the White House and Boris J. in Number 10, the hottest July on record, the Amazon on fire, and Brexit just around the corner (maybe). In keeping with this weirdness I chose an inappropriate title for this photo. Upskirting is not appropriate at any time, of course but I felt […]
