Daily Photo – Lippo Center Tower 2

I'm guessing I simply spun around from where I too yesterday's shot of the Bank of China Tower to get this shot of the Lippo Center 2 – or Bond Center 2 as it was then.

The east facade of the Bank of is reflected in the gleaming glass of the then new building.

I find it funny, looking back, that both buildings were not occupied at the time. In my usual ignorant fashion I had no idea how new these buildings were. I do recall wondering where all the traffic was but theorized most people took either the MTR or the the double-decker buses public that plied the Connaught Road and Queensway.

Today the East Rail line, which is on the mainland and first opened in 1910, is reported to be able to carry up to 101,000 passengers per hour in just one direction! As I sit in my in traffic on the Westpark Tollway I'll think about that transit efficiency (but still end up rationalizing the flexibility my offers more than offsets the downside of the traffic jams).
