Daily Photo – More of the Bank of China Tower

I turned my camera horizontal once more and took a wider shot of the east face of the Bank of Tower. Even back in 1989 my predominant shooting style was run-and-gun.

I.M. Pei's design was unique in that a Feng Shui expert was not consulted before the design was essentially completed. Pei later made a few concessions but the sharp angular lines and ā€œX'sā€ that are signature features of the facades remain and are not normal in this part of the world.

As with the image of the Bank of China Tower I posted yesterday, the cloud ceiling was barely clearing the top of the tower and you can see the base of the cloud partially obscuring the very top of the tower.

This is the east face, taken from the north-east corner ā€“ very close to the location from where I took the photo of the north-east corner. This image has been post processed in Topaz Adjust 5 to obtain this sketch-like look. Below are two renditions using Topaz B&W Effects 2.1.

And below I've done a different conversion using a painterly effect with a slight tone to get a more sketch-like rendering.
