In this image, an officer of the Endymion Krewe heads towards his horse having secured some prized Endymion footballs for his sons. He holds their hands tightly – it can be easy to become separated in the mass of people.
I thought I lead off with this image of one of the Flambeau carriers from the 2010 Endymion parade. This was taken as the parade was about to set off. This guy was one of a group of about eight, all similarly dressed for their march to the Superdome. The torch is fueled from a propane tank secured to the frame on his back.
What first struck me about this scene was the crop spraying plane that was buzzing around. I didn’t get a useable shot of the crop sprayer – it was too far away for my 75-300mm (B&H) and I loused up the exposure for the plane. I was struck by the lemon-yellow building in this scene. It sits at the entrance to the leisure boat marina in Palacios, Texas. In the background is part of the fishing fleet – shrimp, crabs and oysters being the main business in this town. The yellow building typifies one of the things I love about the houses that line the Texas Gulf coast – bright, vibrant, saturated colors.
