South Beach, Miami, on a Friday morning at around 9:30. Having sauntered south on Ocean Drive to about 12th street I decided to head out to the beach a shade under 500 feet from the hotels and restaurants. Being 9:30am on a regular Friday there were not many people on the beach but the Boucher Brothers crews had been hard at work laying out sun loungers and umbrellas in anticipation of crowds to come.
Despite the showers that kept rolling through, this market in Georgetown, Penang continued. The colorful umbrellas served alternately to provide shade from the sun and protection from the rain. The rain though, had reduced the number of people on the streets so at this particular time, the ratio of vendors to buyers was tilted to the vendor side of the equation.
Here’s another ‘street’ image I took on Koh Phi Phi Don. I was most likely wandering around the isthmus in search or food, or beer, or both. There use to be lots of shacks where you could get a good, cheap meal pretty much any time of day. Two locals walk along a trail in the early afternoon hours.
