I took this photo back in the fall of 2010 when making a run-and-gun trip though Maine. Its another road-side photo. I’ve no idea if this stream has a name but it flows under Route 193 in Deblois. Fortunately traffic on the roads here is light and there were plenty of places to pull off the road. This is a combination of three shots, hand-held. Since I was racing from Boston to Lubec in one day and I wanted a […]
So I follow a bunch of Photographers over on Google+, one of them being Brian Matiash. Brian had a post recently where he stated he found it very challenging to stop and smell the roses. Since Brian’s post was illustrated with a view towards Otter Cliff, Acadia, Maine, I decided to illustrate this post with a view from the other side of the headland, Otter Cove. Brian’s post was interesting because I found myself agreeing with him. I normally run-and-gun […]
This past weekend we put out clocks back to standard time here in the USA. The ritual that, for many, confirms autumn is here and winter is just around the corner. Around this time last year, I was traveling in Maine and I took this photograph of a waterfall in Acadia National Park. Hiking Much as I like hiking, it’s been a long time since I’ve hiked all day or more. These days I confine myself to a few hours […]
In October 2010, I had the opportunity to spend 3 days traveling down the Maine coastline. I started at the eastern most point in the continental United States, the West Quoddy Head lighthouse, then drove south over the next three days ending, in a cold windy mist at the Pemaquid Point Light (followed by a sprint back to Boston). This Flash gallery comprises 24 images from that trip. If your device doesn’t support Flash, there’s a non-Flash gallery at the […]
So my Maine Event came to a close today in a damp and soggy fashion. It was raining quite hard before sun up so I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. This was probably a mistake but I’ll never know for sure. When I did leave Belfast at around 10:00 it wasn’t really raining but the cloud hugged the ground and the sounds of the fog horns drifted in through the fog.[ad name=”post”] Because of my late […]
So here we are, Day Three. I haven’t found a better WordPress app so I’m stuck with the eponymous app and hoping I don’t touch the wrong place on the screen and lose everything again.. I’ve set the auto save to every minute so we’ll see how that goes. Overnight it rained. Bar Harbor was pretty near dead, storefront after storefront posting signs reading “Closed for the Season. See you in May”. Well er, no, you won’t.[ad name=”post”] I headed […]
