Although I've visited London many times over the year, this past summer was the first time I've ever been up to the walkways of London's famous Tower Bridge. There are various displays about the building of the but by far the best part are the views from high above the river. Entrance is £8.00 for an adult, less for seniors and children.

There's an eastern walkway and a western one. This is a view up-river from the western walkway. Although mostly glassed in, they have these little you can open and poke your camera through for a shot unhindered by in the glass. This shot was taken through one of those .

In the lower right corner is the Tower of London, moving to the left from there is the famous gherkin, 30 St. Mary Axe. It was built in the early 2000s on the site of the old Baltic Exchange that was severely damaged by an IRA bomb in 1992. Continuing left are other buildings in the City.

Peeking over the top of the blue building just left of center is the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral and further left in the distance rises the BT Tower, formerly the Post Office Tower. As a child my mother took my sister, brother and I to London with a plan to visit the revolving observation deck on the 34th floor. That plan was thwarted also by the IRA who planted a bomb there in 1971. Although it re-opened, we never went back.

Lower left is the grey-green HMS Belfast, a Navy light cruiser that has been moored in the river as a since 1971. It too is currently closed after an accident but is due to re-open after Easter this year.
