With most of our seismic lines in south africa running along public roads, we covered more distance faster than we did in Libya.
In Libya we'd set up the camp in the middle of the work zone to shorten travel times. In south africa the surveyors would try and find a location with the shortest travel times and then our permit man would go find the landowners and see if we could camp there. Usually there was a small fee and usually we'd end up on some trash land that would more often than not end up flooding if it rained hard.
This sunset was taken from our camp near delmas which is about 40 miles east of Johannesburg. Looking back, I don't recall mosquitoes being a particular problem, despite the often wet camp sites.
