This sunset was taken from our camp near Delmas which is about 40 miles east of Johannesburg. Looking back, I don’t recall mosquitoes being a particular problem, despite the often wet camp sites.

The Drakensberg, or Dragon Mountains, is the highest mountain range in South Africa, rising to 3,482 m (11,424 ft) at their highest point. The range is also sometimes called The Escarpment.

On one of these vacations I determined to drive to Rorke’s Drift which lies broadly between Johannesburg and Durban. Like driving in New England, the names of the cities are familiar but there in the wrong order. So on this trip I passed through Newcastle, skirted Glencoe and then drove through Dundee.
