Daily Photo – The Offering

Wandering around the outside of the temple I happened across this scene of a woman making an offering to her god. Clearly this furnace has been has been in service for quite a while. If you look closely you can see that it’s raining – you can see the water running off the roof line at right. My guess is that the worshiper is trying to keep the rain off her face with her hand.

These days I resort to an Op/TECH Rainsleeve (B&H) to protect my gear in the rain. Back in 1989 when I took this photo I’d just use a regular plastic bag. I’d cut a hole for the lens and hold the bag in place with an elastic band. I’d do the same for the eyepiece. Plenty good enough, especially for s zoom lens with limited travel. What I like about the Rainsleeve though is it allows for plenty of travel for either my Canon 28-300mm (B&H) or Canon 100-400mm (B&H only $1,699 through December 1st) lens. As a bonus it’s really lightweight and packs away into almost nothing.
