Daily Photo – Approaching the Escarpment

Although this looks at first glance to be an shot, I'm actually standing on the on terra firma for this shot of our vibs approaching the .

It's a tighter framing of yesterday's shot. The line of Sercel SN348 boxes is more easily seen in this shot, if you know what you're looking for, just off to the right of the rightmost (though you may need to click on the image and view an enlargement on my SmugMug site).

I'm looking in a southerly direction so the shadows of the vibs tell me I took this shot mid to . In the foreground, an observer walks towards the tracks in the middle of the photo, preparing to assist in lining the vibs up in single file one more as they enter the track cut in the lower slopes of the by our bulldozer.

I typically wanted the vibs to get as tight into the base of the as possible to minimize the gap in the survey and reduce the number of offsets we needed to shoot to maintain coverage.
