Daily Photo – Ocean Drive Miami – Waldorf Towers Hotel

‘Want to sleep with me?' reads the sign in the lower right window of the Room Mate Waldorf Towers Hotel on Drive at 9th Street. I can't say I'm overly impressed with the ‘towers' of the hotel though I guess you can get a reasonably view of the Atlantic from there on a rainy/stormy day. This building the rounded corners typical of many of the Art Deco buildings in South Beach. This particular building was designed by Albert Anis in 1937. I was partly drawn by the architecture and partly by the and paint scheme. The pastel tones of the color were in common with most other buildings but is more often seen in the awnings such as those at Ocean's Ten than on the buildings themselves. I was fortunate with this sequence that the people didn't move much between shots (this is a 3 shot, 4EV range HDR) and neither did the bird perched on the roof! But then, this was my 5th sequence trying to get a motion free sequence without cars or pedestrians walking through.

Looking at this photo I'm, left wondering if I could have made a composition of the bicycles and fire hydrant against the tangerine . Maybe, but I didn't notice those elements at the time.

As with the other shots in this series, there's a black and version below.
