Statues on Guard

Once the rain had moved on, I was able to step out from my temporary shelter and resume wandering aimlessly around. I didn’t have any set goal for that day, I had just decided to wander around the Wat Phra Kaew to see what I could see. After all, if you’re in Bangkok, you’re going to have to see some temples. It’s difficult to know how old these statues are. Some buildings within the walls of the Grand Palace complex are several hundred years old. I’m sure also that there’s a whole mythology surrounding the characters these statues represent, but I leave that for others to study. I just prefer to marvel at the intricate art work and craftsmanship.
