Goat Mountain reflected in Goat Pond

Goat Mountain lies about 10 miles south south east of Canmore in Alberta, Canada. Of course, if you're Canadian, since 1977 that'll be about 16 kilometers – that's as the crow flies. It's a bit longer by the road which twists and turns through the mountain passes and along the valleys. Out of Canmore you take Alberta 742, otherwise known as the Smith Dorrien Trail, and follow it south till you get to Goat Pond. Here I'm shooting almost due south across Goat Pond to Goat Mountain. In the background to the left is Mt. Nestor. This area is all part of the Spray Valley Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country.

Needless to say, on this day we saw no goats. We didn't get close enough to the mountain but there were certainly no goats in the namesake pond. We did see a moose though. And a squirrel.

The EXIF data says I took this photo at 9:35 am on May 16, 2017, but I'm very lazy on changing the time zones on my camera when I so this would have been taken at 8:35 am local (or Mountain time). Despite the relatively late hour, the was still largely windless, the dust trail behind our truck just hanging in the air. That absence of wind left the surface of the pond a smooth, glassy surface enabling this wonderful mirror-like reflection.
