It’s HOT in Texas at this time of the year! Having lived in the Houston area for all but two of the last 15 years, you’d think I’d be used to it, but I’m not. Sure it was hotter in Libya, I recall a few days when the thermometer showed 50 Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) but that’s only because that was the top of the range for the thermometer at the airstrip. I’ve no idea how hot it really was those […]
I recently had the opportunity to photograph the interior of a house decorated by my wife, Karen Davis, of Karen Davis Design. The house was remodeled and extended by Artisan Brothers of Sugar Land. Photographing interiors is a new field for me, I’m more comfortable with exteriors, but then pushing on the boundaries of our comfort zones is how we grow and learn. This gallery is a small sample from a half-day on location. With little time available to shoot […]
I recently flew from Houston to New Orleans on Southwest Airlines, just so I could have the pleasure of driving from New Orleans back to Houston the following day. I’ve spent many days driving Houston and New Orleans along I-10, less so since Katrina, but I digress. I like Houston’s Hobby Airport. It’s close to downtown, it’s compact, and it’s friendly. There is only the one public terminal and the security line runs efficiently. I used to love the experience […]
A few weeks back my son, Evan, turned 9. To celebrate we hosted a group of his friends at the Times Square entertainment complex in Katy. After an hour of bowling they got to play midway games then a session of Laser Tag. Since my earliest visits to this complex I’ve been wondering what it would be like to take photos in the black-lit arena. Obviously it’s dark inside and a flash would kill the atmosphere. The image above was […]
So this is the only Mig I could find in my archives – a Mig 17A on display at the The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA, just west of Savannah. But this post has nothing to do cold war era Soviet fighter planes, this post is about MigRecover, a utility for recovering files from Windows Easy Transfer .mig files when your upgrade goes west, as mine did. Back on April 28th I posted on how Dell had […]
My iPad Camera Connection Kit, like the other peripherals I ordered, arrived before my iPad. Having received my iPad last Friday I’ve been able to spend a few brief moments getting to know it. This evening I decided to try the iPad Camera Connection Kit. I had wanted this kit as my thought had been that perhaps I’d be able to dispense with carrying around my Epson P-5000 Multimedia Storage Viewer. Although the P-5000 is no longer available new from […]
