Another photo from my recent trip to California. For the first part of the trip we stayed at The Inn at the Cove in Pismo Beach. On the day I took this photo we'd gone down to the Pismo Beach pier to take photos during the morning twilight – that time when the sun reaches 18 degrees below the horizon and night starts to give way to day. As daybreak neared more surfers appeared near the pier riding such waves as there were. By the time I took this photo, the sun was above the horizon, casting a golden glow over the pier pilings in the background. This surfer, with his McTavish board, was heading back to the shore – perhaps a day at work beckoned, or maybe just a hot cup of coffee though, cold as it was, I doubt he needed anything else to wake him up!
