I took this image at a place I’ve noted as being Schoonspruit in the Free State, back in December 1988. This photo was taken a few months after the sunset photo while on a different trip. It’s taken from one of the rocky outcrops in the north-east corner of the park looking to the north-west. I’ve always liked these wide open vistas. They provide a sense of a world without limits.

Once again, at the right time of year, the sunsets in South Africa provide a fantastic display of color. This image is taken in the Willem Pretorius Game Reserve in the Free State.
About 30 miles south-east of Welkom you’ll find the Willem Pretorius Game Reserve. I visited this reserve several times when I was working in the area.
