Although only about a mile east-south-east from Badwater, it’s more than a mile vertically above it in elevation! This shot was taken with my Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM (B&H) lens racked out…  This view of Death Valley was taken from near the intersection of the West Side Road and the track that leads up into Johnson Canyon. The rain was still falling but most of it seemed to be evaporating before getting to the ground. Brings back memories, driven a few miles over this type of highway (IN A HIRED VEHICLE!) actually found them quite serviceable at moderate speeds, only trouble is a hell of a lot of dust if you meet anyone.
