Daily Photo – Log Jam

This is all well and good until a log escapes. You might not be able to see it in the image below, but at 100% you can see there is a cable that runs down the outside of both sides of the log raft. Dead center of the photo there are two men in a small boat trying to push a log that has slipped outside the cable back into the raft.

Daily Photo – Airboat Captain

My airboat captain was extremely knowledgeable about the area we were traveling in and he seemed to know where the wildlife would be. He was also very precise in the handling of the airboat with his right foot on the throttle and his left hand on the tiller to steer the boat. You can tell we’re traveling at quite a lick by the way his hair is blowing back behind him.

Daily Photo – Ocean Drive Miami, The Betsy Ross

I was inspired to take this series by a picture hanging in our hotel room. I’ll post the then-and-now of that image later since it was towards the southern end of Ocean Drive and the Betsy Ross is at the north end.

Daily Photo – Morning in Ton Sai Bay 2

You can typically find several shots from a single location if you take the time to look around. You should also take advantage of zoom lenses which are easier to carry than multiple prime lenses. My current favorite is the Canon 28-300. It’s not as inconspicuous as the Nikon equivalent (there’s a Tamron for the Canon that’s more affordable) but I’m a bit of a Canon snob. Whatever the camera and whatever the lens manufacturer, the 28-300mm range is great for travel photography.

Daily Photo – Bangkok Grand Palace

I snapped this image of part of the Grand Palace in Bangkok while racing up the Chao Phraya as a passenger in one of those long-tail boats. Later in the day I went back to the Wat Phra Kaew which is in the north-east corner of the Grand Palace complex and open to the public and I’ll post some images from there in the coming days.

Daily Photo – Norwegian Blue

I love the way the sun is lighting up the snow on the distant mountains, their ruggedness being apparent from the lines of light and dark.
