I spotted this particular specimen having left Grand Canyon West, gotten back onto Pierce Ferry Road, and heading north to Pearce Ferry and South Cove. In the background of this shot is Grapevine Mesa.

The bridge extends 70ft out from the canyon wall and the vertical drop at that point is over 4,000ft. As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more ‘height aware’. So most of the time I kept my feed above one of the two steel tracks that supports the glass floor, though I did take a few steps on the glass floor to pass some other people. Very well done Richard. I can’t imagine waling out on the glass. The photo you have here is fantastic, and I love the composition. 
Thanks Royce. There are two horse-shoe shaped steel beams, each about a foot wide, that support the glass. Most people walk over those, but it’s still freaky and if you want to move past someone admiring the view, stepping on the glass over the void is your only choice. It’s one of those situation where your brain tells you it’s safe and your mind is telling you something completely different! |
