The Elissa is a three-masted, iron-hulled barque built in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1877. She was rescued from destruction in a Greek Shipyard in 1975 by the Galveston Historical Foundation and towed to Galveston in 1979.

Where is Surfside Beach?

Hi Linda, Surfside Beach is about 36 miles south-west along the Texas Gulf Coast from Galveston. It lies on the eastern gulf side of the inlet that feeds the intercoastal waterway. Freeport, Texas lies on the inland side to the west of that inlet.
