After a while spend wandering off-trail we decided it was time we were rejoining the pack. The tops of the clouds in this photo are more than a mile vertically below me.

With the sun continuing to descend in the west, I headed back to Laban Rata. Today’s photo was a view south, over the top of the Park HQ and into Borneo.  I took the photo below on my ascent to Laban Rata. Ascent, that is, as in climbing the stairs rather than something more skillful.  This is a view of Mount Kinabalu taken from the Park HQ in the evening. The sun has already set on the Park HQ but still illuminates the mountain top.

[...] the third in my series of four sunset images from Laban Rata, Mount Kinabalu, taken during my trek up the mountain in August [...]  Low cloud fills a valley in this photo taken in the Gunung Mulu National Park while another layer of cloud shrouds the ridge leading to Mount Mulu.  Today’s photos were taken shortly after yesterday’s. The difference is I framed them vertically which further emphasizes the clouds. Like all the shots in my Everglades series it’s a three-shot 4EV range HDR. Also like most of the it was taken while the airboat was in motion.  Yesterday’s photo was a view to the north. Today’s swings around to the north-west. The sun is out of the frame to the left but the patchwork of clouds leads to the grassland under the dark clouds to be bathed in light while the grassland under the blue sky is wrapped in shadow.

Same bank of cloud rendered almost black by the density of [...]  Another thunder storm was rolling across the horizon. We could see the lightning but not hear any thunder over the roar of the 68′ Chevy engine and huge fan that were propelling the boat. Bottom left you can see Captain Greg’s boat heading across the sawgrass.

Taylor Wildlife Management Area-Water Conservation Area 3B, [...]  This is a view to the west so the Everglades is flowing from right to left across the frame. Since the Everglades is a river, albeit a really slow moving one, it has a very different character to the swamps of southern Louisiana where in many places the water just pools and stagnates.
