I took this shot one October , close by my home in George Bush Park. I passed close by this site frequently taking my daughter to preschool and noticed the mist rising off the water in the early hours. I resolved myself to wake earlier than usual on a Sunday and head to this location.

The water was mostly stagnant, a primordial soup of pond weed and muck. Every now and then a turtle would break the surface for air then descend beneath the weed and be gone.

I arrived before sun up and for quite a while I was alone, the only sound the chirping of birds and the occasional splash in the water. And then this cyclist appeared on the bridge. I was alerted to his arrival by the sound his bike made as he rode onto the bridge. One frame and he was gone, since my camera was set to single shot rather than burst mode.

The coloring is from the original frame – underexposed by -2/3EV from what the Japanese scientist inside my camera was recommending – though I have enhanced it a little with the use of Topaz Adjust 5.

Below is a different treatment in Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.
