The Curtis island Light marks the south side of Camden harbor, Maine. Built in 1896. this light replaces a light built in 1835 by order of President Jackson.
I took this photo several years ago and feel lucky to have been able to do so. The weather wasn't brilliant the day I drove by. It had started out quite foggy but the cloud had started to lift by the time I got to this destination.
There's no public land on the shoreline here. I guess you could walk around the waterline from the public access in the harbor, I don't know.
I was trying to get a shot down the driveway of a private home but I wasn't having much luck. There were too many trees and the fences along the road were quite high. Then the owner of one of the houses came home and graciously allowed me to take the shot from their garden just above the shoreline.
Even late morning on an overcast late October day the view was still great. But perhaps that's because I don't live by the ocean. Perhaps, when you have this view, it becomes everyday humdrum after a while.
