For R&R from Brunei I’d often go to Thailand. The image below is the first of my Thailand collection, and it’s of a department store, somewhere in Bangkok taken July 16, 1989. It was taken in the morning, not that I can remember the night before – after all, it was Bangkok. I’ve no idea why I was in the store but I’m guessing I was looking for a bag to use as a camera bag that was not a camera bag. Just as today, there’s nothing that screams ‘Steal Me!’ as loudly as a branded camera bag.
The colors in this image stem from using a daylight film in mixed fluorescent and incandescent light. I’m on the eighth floor of the store, shooting down through the atrium.

That is vibrant, beautiful like a stained glass window. Shopping is so big in that part of the world. It’s like Black Friday everyday.
Bangkok is a nice city, but did you go to Phuket yet.
Here is so beautiful and crazy at the same time.
I spent many happy months in Phuket, but haven’t been there since the mid-nineties. I’ll post some photos from my visits soon.
